What makes us different

If you're finding the complexities of the special education process challenging to navigate, rest assured that we are here to collaborate with you and school teams towards positive outcomes.

Experienced Professionals

As certified educators, we hold state licensure in special education (K-12) and administration and supervision (K-12). We have collectively amassed decades of experience within the public school system, serving students with disabilities from preschool through high school. This extensive background has honed our abilities to work effectively and in partnership with school teams and families.

Unique Approach

As a former Procedure Support Liaison for Special Education/Due Process and as a former school-based administrator for Special Education we have a broad scope of professional knowledge. Our experience working on complex cases has given us insight and skills that can only be gained through direct experience. Understanding parental as well as school concerns gives us unique insight for effective case collaboration.

Levels of support

Our purpose is to offer families various levels of support. We are committed to working with you to the extent necessary for you to have confidence in your school team and to ensure that the documents that you sign are tailored to your child's needs.

We value your time

Every family deserves support at the level in which they are most comfortable.  We acknowledge that the cost of hiring advocates may be prohibitive.  We strive to provide comprehensive services with ethical and reasonable rates. Our goal is always for our time with you to be concise, targeted, and productive. More time in meetings does not always translate to better outcomes.

About Us

Navigating special education services for your child can be both overwhelming and daunting. At Empower Education Advocacy, our aim is to empower parents and guardians to become knowledgeable participants in their child's educational programming.

We leverage our experience and the principles of relevant legislation to advocate for suitable educational programming in the least restrictive environment. At the same time, we guide you through the process and establish a clear path to support your child's unique success.

Our firsthand experience as 'the school team' allows us to work with schools effectively and collaboratively. Unlike other advocates who may focus on a single category of disability, we possess the expertise to represent families with students eligible for services across all special education categories and complex profiles.

Our aim is to empower families until they are confident in collaborating with school teams and advocating for their child's needs independently for the long term.

Services and Supports

IEP Review and Feedback or  Consultation

New to the process?

If you are wondering if your child needs services or if the school team is discussing the possibility, we can answer any questions you may have.  For a flat fee, we offer a 30-minute video consultation with our team then provide you with recommendations and considerations for next steps.

Services already in place?

If you believe things are progressing well but seek an objective assessment of your current IEP proposal, we offer the solution. For a flat fee, a 30-minute video consultation with our team will precede our review of your IEP proposal. We will then provide a comprehensive list of strengths, areas of concern, and recommended next steps. Submission of the IEP proposal and any pertinent supporting documents is required.

Initial Case Study & Consultation

This service offers a records review for a flat fee, which encompasses the evaluation of the current IEP and any additional documents deemed crucial to your child's situation and your concerns.

Following the document review, a 60-minute video consultation will take place to discuss our professional recommendations. We will provide clear guidance on the subsequent steps you can take to advocate for your child. Should you opt to proceed as your own advocate, we are available to consult on further inquiries at our standard hourly rate or a fraction thereof.

In-Depth Case Study & Direct Representation

Should you require further assistance following the initial case study, we will develop a tailored plan to support you throughout the process. This may encompass any combination of the following, tailored to the particular aspects of your case:

  • Examination of any additional documents not previously reviewed, including external reports from private providers, if relevant.
  • Input on the forthcoming IEP draft proposal.
  • An in-person meeting with your child at your home or another agreed-upon location.
  • Evaluation of current district and classroom assessments, if relevant.
  • Analysis of the most recent eligibility and testing results.
  • Review of behavioral data, discipline referrals, and FBA/BIP, if pertinent.

Consultations of this nature are charged at our standard hourly rate or a fraction thereof. Brief phone conversations or rapid response emails lasting less than 15 minutes are provided complimentary.

We are here for you.
